Alumni spotlight #21 Johan Andersen


Screen Shot 2016-04-25 at 12.04.13Read about Johan Andersen who graduated from the BIDS programme in 2015 with a major in sociology. Johan has now decided to further study the field of sociology within his current Master studies
in Nationalism Studies at Central European University (CEU) in Budapest.
During the 6th semester of the BIDS programme Johan did an interesting internship that included country specific academic writing assignments, which allowed him to use skills gained from the BIDS programme.

Alumni Spotlight #14 Hanna Norelius

HHanna_Noreliusanna Norelius, a BIDS graduate from the class of 2014 with a major in Political Science, has put her experience from BIDS to use in internships in Malawi and Kenya. Only there she has found her passion for health-related issues, which she now pursues at Copenhagen University with a master programme in Global Health. “Have an open mind and take the opportunities you get”, is her advice to future graduates.

Alumni Spotlight #9 Sophia Djane

sphia.bidsSophia Djane is a BIDS Graduate of 2012 with a Political Science major. Sophia was born and raised in Lund, though she has also spent longer periods in Accra and London. Currently she works for IM (Individuell Människohjälp) in Lund, and is involved in a  local movement called Tillsammans för Lund (Together for Lund). If currents BIDSters have questions regarding exchange studies (in Africa), Sophia encourages them to contact her. 🙂

Alumni Spotlight #8 Denise Beniwa Johnson

Denis_BIDSDenise Beniwa, majored in Sociology, during her third year in the program she did an internship at Swedwatch where she was given tasks such as risk analysis on different industries and labour rights. Early on, she became interested in understanding what it is that upholds structures of inequality and understanding international relations, this is what lead her to chose the BIDS program.

BIDS Alumni Spotlight #1 Rebecca Sjöstrand

Rebecca Sjöstrand graduated from BIDS in 2014 with a major in Sociology with a thesis based on her MFS in Nicaragua where she studied how motherhood seasonal migration affect each other. She says, “my best advice for field studies is to be as prepared as possible before you leave… be aware of your own position, try your very best to create equal meetings and listen to the stories that you are privileged to hear.”
