Astrid

Astrid Fabrin tells that after her graduation from BIDS in 2015, she was very confused about the endless options she could potentially pursue. She decided to travel for a while, and is now about to finish another bachelor degree in Social Anthropology. During BIDS, she majored in Human Geography and conducted minor field studies in Kenya.  Astrid encourages future graduates to “find some work that actually helps people!”

Alumni Spotlight #14 Hanna Norelius

HHanna_Noreliusanna Norelius, a BIDS graduate from the class of 2014 with a major in Political Science, has put her experience from BIDS to use in internships in Malawi and Kenya. Only there she has found her passion for health-related issues, which she now pursues at Copenhagen University with a master programme in Global Health. “Have an open mind and take the opportunities you get”, is her advice to future graduates.

Alumni Spotlight #13 Anders Magnusson

Anders MagnussonGraduating in 2015, Anders Magnusson was looking back on an iridescent BIDS career. He majored in Human Geography and pursued MFS in Kenya, to now continue his studies at London School of Economics. Grown up in Stockholm, Anders always felt a “passion for travelling and exploring new places and cultures” and has connections to several countries outside Scandinavia. During BIDS he was engaged as both class and student representative and initiated various extra-academic activities. Anders encourages BIDSters to “[get] active, meet as many people as you can, try to develop your ideas into something real and don’t give up just because someone tells you that it’s not doable.”

Alumni Spotlight #3 Vera Karmebäck

VeraVera Karmebäck graduated from BIDS in 2013 and has since been living in Nairobi, Kenya. With a major Human Geography and a thesis focusing on the sustainability of the food chain her advice to her fellow BIDSters is simple, “Don’t panic about the perceived impossibility to find a job in our field- start somewhere, say yes to opportunities that open up for you and don’t underestimate the value of practical experience.”
